Jessica Simpson is hoping to battle back into the spotlight with her new reality show "The Price of Beauty."
The 28-year-old singer recently battled to get her weight back down after being ridiculed by Eminem in his video for "We Made You." In her new show, Simpson promises to tackle body image issues.
In the original docu-series on VH1, Simpson will span the world to meet up with everyday women and explore the meaning of true beauty. The show will take a look at "local fashions, dietary fads and beauty regimes" all across the globe, The Los Angeles Times reported.
The pop singer, who is well-known for starring in the MTV's "Newlyweds" with ex-hubby Nick Lachey, said she immediately liked the idea of a show focusing on beauty.
"I have always believed that beauty comes from within and confidence will always make a woman beautiful, but I know how much pressure some women put on themselves to look perfect," Simpson said.
Jeff Olde of VH1 said that Simpson herself "has been the target of our obsession with beauty on both sides of the equation.
"She is a woman who can set trends and create firestorms with a single photo," he added. "Jessica now gets to take control of that conversation and take a look at the idea of beauty through her own unique, unfiltered lens."
"The Price of Beauty" is set to begin shooting in mid-July and is scheduled to air in 2010. Simpson and her father, Joe Simpson, are among the show's executive producers.
