Gaga's Meat Dress Not Destined for Grill

Steaks not headed for grill, but not left to rot, either

Grilling season is still going strong, and you were no doubt wondering whatever happened to all that prime beef Lady Gaga wore at last week's MTV Video Music Awards.

The outrageous "Pokerface" singer's dress was comprised of 50 pounds worth of all sorts of cuts of raw beef, presumably allowing her to make some sort of important statement that was lost on most of us. But allowing the meat to rot in a closet after the show would only further enrage vegetarians and anger meat lovers as well.

Well, it isn't going on a grill and it isn't exactly going to rot, but you can decide whether it is being wasted.

“The dress will go through a process where it becomes a sort of ‘jerky,’ ” the designer, Franc Fernandez, told E! Online. It will be “archived” for posterity, he said.

Fernandez told MTV Style that he bought 50 pounds of meat and designed the dress over three days, refrigerating it in between sessions.

“The meat dries out, rather than rotting,” he said. “But it shouldn’t be worn again.”And he’s not planning on designing another one. “There’s not going to be meat dresses in the future.”
