Bret Michaels Aims to Retake Stage by Month's End

Hopes to return to "Celebrity Apprentice," resume band's tour in coming weeks

Stricken rocker Bret Michaels is battling back from a near-fatal brain hemorrhage, doubling down on his physical therapy in a bid to get back on stage by the end of the month.

"He's still in rehab," a source told

People magazine

. "His doctor told him to do physical therapy once a day, but he's doing it twice a day, because he wants a speedy, 100 percent recovery."

Not  only is the Poison frontman aiming to return to the May 23 finale of "The Celebrity Apprentice," where he is still in the running to win, he hopes to resume his band's "Roses & Thorns" tour later this month, the source said.

"It's looking likely that his first date back will be May 28 at the Hard Rock in Mississippi," says the source.

That tour was first interrupted April 12 when Michaels had an emergency appendectomy. Ten days later, Michaels suffered a non-aneurysmal brain hemorrhage. When the tour resumes, Michaels' bus drivers will travel with a map showing all nearby hospitals, just in case there's another health scare.
