Bar Refaeli Shirked Army Duty: Israeli General

Israeli Defense Forces major-general calls for model's boycott

Israeli supermodel Bar Refaeli has wowed the west, but a high-ranking army official back home isn’t as impressed.

Major-General Avi Zamir has accused the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model of shirking her military duties, Sky News reports.

Zamir says Rafaeli briefly married then divorced a family friend to keep from suiting up in uniform.

Under Israeli law, married women are not required to serve in the military for two years like other Israeli women.

Zamir has urged a boycott of the 19-year-old blonde bombshell’s products.

"Before they attack Bar they should check the government and see who in government did not join the army," Refaeli's mom told Sky.

The teen model and off and on girlfriend of Leonardo Dicaprio has also been criticized in her homeland for reportedly registering as a non-resident for tax purposes.
