Bilson Designs Bracelet for African Charity

Proceeds to benefit college students in South Africa

Actress Rachel Bilson is the latest star to contribute her jewelry designs to charity, joining the ranks of Angelina Jolie,  Anne Hathaway and Victoria Beckham.

When she visited Botswana and South Africa in December, Bilson, 28, was impressed by the diamond mining industry's efforts to improve the countries' quality of life, according to People.

The former "O.C." star joined forces with InStyle to design a bracelet that will benefit the Diamond Empowerment Fund, a non-profit organization to improve education in Africa founded by Russell Simmons and his ex-wife Kimora Lee Simmons.

The leather and diamond band retails at $100 exclusively at InStyle.com, where visitors can also watch a video of Bilson "Making a Difference in Africa." One-fifth of the sales will help DEF provide student housing to the CIDA City Campus at the University of Johannesburg.

This is not Bilson's first foray into design; her clothing line, Edie Rose for DKNY Jeans, hit stores last September.
