    Race for the Cure

    Join NBC5 at the Komen Tarrant County Race for the Cure on Saturday, April 11 in Downtown Fort Worth.  For 16 years, the Race for the Cure annual 5k walk/ run has been taking steps to raise money to fund local breast cancer programs and to help find a cure for breast cancer.

    The Komen Tarrant County Race for the Cure is the single largest charitable 5K in Tarrant County. Up to 75 percent of net proceeds are used for local programs, with 25 percent used to fund cutting-edge breast cancer research. Komen Race for the Cure is the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world.

    If you are not registered for the race come out and support the contestants on race day. There will be a perfect spot to watch the race and cheer on your friends and family. If you can’t make it to the race you can still make a donation online at www.komentarrant.org. Your donation provides women and men in Tarrant County with services that can save lives.

    6 a.m. – 8:20 a.m. Race Day Registration (4th and Commerce behind The Flying Saucer)
    6:30 a.m.  – 10 a.m. Komen Boutique (Pink Ribbon Items for Sale, Special Souvenir Shirt)
    7 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Survivor Tent (Breakfast provided by LaMadeleine)
                                   Kids for the Cure® (Fun & Games)
                                   Komen Boutique (Pink Ribbon Items for Sale)
                                   National and Local Sponsor Exhibits with lots of samples and gifts!
    7:45 a.m. Aerobic Warm-Up (Energy Fitness)
    8 a.m. 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk (Start line at 2nd and Commerce)
    8:30 a.m. 5K Start at 3rd and Houston
                                   Competitive Chip - 5K (Start line at 3rd and Houston)
                                   Non-Competitive Run/Walk 5K (Start line at 4th and Houston)
    10 a.m. Survivor Recognition and Awards Program
    9:45 a.m. Timed Runner Trophies available at Hospitality Tent
