2014 Legacy of Women Luncheon

Join NBC 5's Deborah Ferguson and SafeHaven of Tarrant County at the annual Legacy of Women Awards Luncheon on Friday, September 26, at the Omni Hotel in downtown Fort Worth.

Fifteen women will be honored for their achievement in arts, business, education, health and human services, and volunteerism. The awards will be presented at the Legacy of Women luncheon on Friday, September 26, at the Omni Hotel in downtown Fort Worth. Attendees will hear from guest speaker, Leslie Morgan Steiner, author of the New York Times bestseller, Crazy Love, a memoir about surviving domestic violence.

SafeHaven’s mission is to end domestic violence through safety, support, prevention and social change. SafeHaven provides the only two shelters in Tarrant County specifically for victims of domestic violence. In 2013, SafeHaven answered 44,000 hotline calls,  sheltered 784 abused women and 998 children, assisted 3,350 victims and their children in their Resource Centers, provided 133,782 meals and 89,188 snacks, housed 102 families through transitional and permanent supportive housing, educated more than 30,000 students and 7,000 community members, and facilitated 23,000 hours of service from almost 1,800 volunteers.
