We need your help to clear the shelters this summer! Clear the Shelters is a pet adoption event that began in Dallas-Fort Worth in 2014. The event, which is now nation-wide, is the largest free pet adoption event in the country and has saved more than 75,000 animals’ lives!
Did you know that on average it costs a shelter between $50 - $100 to provide a homeless pet with basic veterinary services (spay neuter surgery, vaccinations, and microchips) to make them adoption ready? Because the event offers fee-waived adoptions, many shelter managers are unable to participate in Clear the Shelters or adopt out all of their animals due to lack of funding.
That’s why NBC 5 has teamed up with the Saving Hope Foundation to create the Clear the Shelters Adoption Ready Fund. This summer, participating shelters will apply for grants from the fund to offset their “adoption ready” veterinary costs, allowing them to increase the number of animals available for adoption on Clear the Shelters Day.
But we need your help to fund these lifesaving efforts. Make a tax-deductible donation to the Clear the Shelters Adoption Ready Fund during the month of April to ensure that every homeless pet in North Texas has the opportunity to find love this summer.
