Josh Ault joined NBC 5 in 2014 as a video journalist. You can see him every morning on NBC 5 Today covering breaking news. Josh shoots and edits all of his own work.
Before coming to Texas, Josh was a reporter/photographer for WATE-TV in Knoxville, TN for four years. During his time there he traveled to Haiti three times during the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake, spent a month in Nashville during the 2010 flood, and traveled to Walter Reed Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD to report on the recovery of a Tennessee Marine who was injured in Afghanistan.
Josh has nerves of steel. He also went skydiving for a story and had knives thrown at him by a circus performer during his time in Tennessee.
Josh has also worked at WAFF-TV in Huntsville, AL, KTRE-TV in Lufkin, TX, and KPLC-TV in Lake Charles, LA.
He got his start in broadcasting as an on-air talent in radio. He has hosted shows on KTEZ-FM in Many, LA, KDBH-FM in Natchitoches, LA, KQID-FM in Alexandria, LA, and KNGT-FM in Lake Charles, LA.
Josh graduated from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA with a degree in broadcast journalism.
Josh is a native Texan. He was born in Henderson, TX and was raised most of his life in Lufkin, TX. His parents live in Nacodgoches, TX. He has sisters in Little Elm, Corpus Christi, Huntington, and Lufkin.
Josh is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served a two year mission for his church in New Jersey from 1998 to 2000.
