Wayne Carter is the Consumer Investigative Reporter for NBC 5's Responds unit. He joins the team in solving problems and investigating schemes for consumers across North Texas.
Wayne brings more than 20 years of journalism experience to NBC 5, joining the team from WREG-TV in Memphis where he investigated misspending by a suburban mayor. The stories helped return more than $100,000 in city money to taxpayers.
As an investigator for WVEC-TV in Virginia Beach, Carter's investigations revealed a church pastor defrauded his congregation of tens of thousands of dollars. When church members confronted the pastor about the unusual transactions, he banned them from the church and attempted to sell the property. Wayne's stories led to an investigation, criminal charges, and the property being returned to the church members.
The Syracuse University alum has also anchored and reported the news in Jackson, MS; Binghamton, NY; Rochester, NY and his hometown of New Orleans.
Cooking is in his Louisiana blood, he makes a mean jambalaya but can't wait to try his hand at the bold spices and flavors Texans enjoy.
Wayne's a cruise and airline buff, dabbles in photograph, but spends most of his time laughing and spending time with his two young daughters.
Wayne wants to know when you feel like you've been treated unfairly by any company or business. He and NBC 5 Responds team will answer every complaint you file.
