PETA Wants Pet Shop Boys to Become Rescue Shelter Boys

The Pet Shop Boys are denying a request by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals to change their name to the Rescue Shelter Boys.

PETA had sent the request to the band and outlined its argument against buying animals in pet stores.

The band say on their Web site they are unable to agree to the change but think it "raises an issue worth thinking about."

What the El!?! Editorial:

Um, okay, don't you think you should have asked for this name change in the 80's when they were super popular and just started? I mean really.

"West End Girls" was released in 1984, so how can you ask a band to change its name 25 years later!
