On Tuesday we talked about Texas Rangers reliever Koji Uehara and how he's pretty much the odd man out of a re-tooled bullpen heading into the 2012 season.
And it's too bad, really. Uehara came from Baltimore at the trade deadline with all kinds of fanfare, a sick ERA and an even sicker ratio of strikeouts to walks. And as we discussed on Tuesday, Uehara sadly fell flat on his face, posting a 4.00 ERA in the regular season and giving up five earned runs in 1 1/3 postseason innings before being left off the World Series roster.
Uehara is a hard guy to not like. He always seemed positive and really seemed to enjoy being here, but it's becoming more clear that he won't be here much longer.
Uehara reportedly rejected a trade to the Toronto Blue Jays, which is one of the six teams he has the right to void a trade with, according to his no-trade clause in his contract that has him set to earn $4 million in 2012.
A report out of his native Japan said he does not want to move his family from Baltimore to Toronto. Personally, I think Toronto is a fine city, but if he's not willing to move there you have to wonder if he's willing to move anywhere other than Baltimore.
Can JD just get Tommy Hunter and Chris Davis back and we'll act like July 2011 never happened?
