Wilson Set to Join Rangers in Arizona

After the way Sunday night's Super Bowl ended in Glendale, it might be a while before Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson wants to return to Arizona.

Yet, Wilson is apparently set to again join the Texas Rangers for spring training, most likely just for a one-day appearance like last season, in Surprise, Arizona, in the coming weeks.

Wilson told reporters in the week leading up to the Super Bowl that he's planning on making a return trip after going for one day last season, taking some infield at second base and talking with the Rangers' young players.

"I love baseball, so any opportunity I would have to hang out with the guys and take some swings, I’ll take,” Wilson told the Boston Globe last week.

Wilson was selected by the Rockies in the fourth round of the 2010 MLB Amateur Draft and played close to 100 games in Colorado’s minor league system in 2010-2011, between his college football commitments. The Rangers then claimed the rights to him in the December 2013 Rule 5 Draft.

He's never going to be a Ranger or even a full-time baseball player, but the Rangers think enough of him to keep him around him as simply a mentor to their younger players, and it's easy to see why, especially when you see how he responded to questions about the fateful ending to Sunday's game with such class and poise.
