Who's On, Who's Not?: July 1

In a weekly staple, we'll discuss who's in a groove and who's in a rut for the Texas Rangers.

Who's On?

Mitch Moreland — No one in baseball is hotter than Moreland right now, at least from a power perspective. The first baseman, who seems to finally be putting a solid full season together (knock on wood), has six home runs and 10 RBIs to go with a .393 average in his last seven games with the help of back-to-back two-homer games.

Prince Fielder — What's new, right? Fielder has been the Rangers' best player all year with Moreland coming in a pretty distant second. The AL's batting leader is hitting .429 with a .484 on-base percentage over his last seven games with two doubles and a homer.

Yovani Gallardo — His scoreless inning streak is approaching 25 innings, and over his last 33 1/3 innings of work, the veteran righty has posted a 0.54 ERA. He's also coming off an outing of 8 1/3 innings with no runs allowed and just three hits against a stout Blue Jays lineup.

Who's Off?

Leonys Martin — On the verge of losing his starting spot whenever Delino DeShields returns from the DL, Martin is struggling horribly at the plate with a .120 batting average over his last seven games. In that time, he has seven strikeouts and no walks.

Adrian Beltre — Beltre clearly isn't right with his injured thumb, and over the last seven games since his unexpected return from the DL, Beltre has just one extra-base hit (a double). He's batting .241 over that span with one RBI.
