Texas Rangers First Team Featured on New Frozen Breakfast Foods

Local company said they have arrangement with entire MLB

The Texas Rangers are in the starting lineup of a new breakfast offering.

Pastime Foods is promoting a new line of frozen waffles, pancakes, and French toast, all featuring shots from Rangers Ballpark in Arlington and the Texas Rangers logo on the packaging.

The "MLB All Natural Waffles - Texas Rangers Edition" are frozen, buttermilk flavored, all-natural waffles just like the ones you'd currently find in your grocer's freezer -- just with Rangers packaging.

The Rangers' brand is just first of the MLB teams to be placed on breakfast products. Patty Marshall, who handles advertising for the company, said Pastime Foods has an agreement with the entire league.

So why are the Rangers on the frozen first wave? Marshall said "extensive research" had been done into the market and found that Rangers fans are hungry (pun not intended) for ways to support their team.

Now, if you're expecting a Rangers logo on the waffles or maybe a Texas-shaped breakfast bonus, get ready to be as disappointed as a Pirates fan in October. From all appearances, these are just plain waffles.

The breakfast barrage is the start of Pastime's plans. Marshall said snack items like bagged candy, frozen appetizers like toquitos, and even skillet meals, are all in the pipeline -- and all would carry the red and blue Rangers logo on the box.

Too bad Rangers fans can't toast any waffles yet -- the products aren't available in stores.

In fact, the company wants you to fill out a form to encourage grocers around North Texas to carry the product so you can support your Texas Rangers by pouring syrup in each of those little squares.

The company said they're currently working on deals with multiple grocers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area but couldn't give us specific names until the the purchase orders are all in place.
