The prevailing thought coming out of spring training was that Nick Tepesch was seen as the Texas Rangers "sixth starter" and would be the first guy on the call-up list for a spot start or if someone just needed a break.
Now, those plans will be put on hold for at least a month.
Tepesch is dealing with nerve irritation in his elbow — a problem he also had in 2013 — and will be put on the shelf for a month, according to The Dallas Morning News.
The last time Tepesch dealt with the problem in 2013, he missed six weeks.
The righty missed out on a rotation spot this spring when he had another horrible spring training, compiling a horrific 10.38 ERA in 17 1/3 innings of work.
He was slotted to be in the rotation for Triple-A Round Rock, but will now start the season on the minor-league disabled list.
