Tate to Start in Prospect Showdown

If you want to settle in for a pretty fun game to watch, you might want to try to catch the Rangers-Cubs Prospect Game on Wednesday night in Surprise. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest and will feature just about all of the Rangers' big-name prospects.

Dillon Tate, who was the Rangers' top pick last year, will start the game on the mound and have several of the well-known Rangers prospects in the lineup with him, including Joey Gallo, Nomar Mazara, Lewis Brinson, Josh Morgan and Leody Taveras.

The game might lack some of the intrigue of last year's inaugural showdown in Arizona, which also featured several Cubs prospects who are now big-leaguers, highlighted by slugger Kris Bryant.

Tate, a 21-year-old righty who starred at UC-Santa Barbara, made six professional starts last year split between Low-A and High-A and finished the year with a combined 1.00 ERA. So, not too shabby.
