One inning into Thursday's game between the Rangers and Blue Jays, there was a pretty clear message sent by the Toronto lineup. This wasn't going to be another heartbreaking walk-off game.
Shortly after that, when the Blue Jays put up a six-run third inning to take an 11-1 lead, it was pretty safe to just flip the channel over to NBC Sports and cheer on the Stars while never looking back.
But if you quit watching the beatdown in Toronto, you missed the one positive note to come out of the game. Cesar Ramos relieved Holland in the third inning and went on to throw four scoreless innings before giving way to Phil Klein and saving the key pieces of the bullpen for another night.
That meant the troika of Shawn Tolleson, Sam Dyson and Jake Diekman got a second straight night off after being overworked, and now they should be plenty fresh heading into a new series in Detroit against the Tigers.
Cole Hamels is on the hill on Friday night, and that likely means one of two things: The trio will have another night of rest or they'll be called upon with high leverage situations on the line, and that's where they thrive the most.
