Admittedly I’m biased. And, yep, still bitter.
Still not over what I witnessed in St. Louis three Octobers ago. You know, the Rangers were within one strike of winning the World Series … twice! And you know the rest of the story. The scars remain. And what with the Rangers now plummeting and losing games and managers and clout, I just can’t get excited about this year’s World Series.
Royals vs. Giants. Cue the yawns.
This feels like last spring’s March Madness when UConn won the championship. The Huskies were in no way the best team in college basketball, just the hottest at the right time.
Kansas City and San Francisco only made the playoffs because of geography. The Royals won two more games than the Mariners, who finished third in the AL West. The Giants played in the NL West – home to the two worst teams in baseball – and still only managed 88 wins.
Each team had to survive a Wild Card Game, with the Royals reeling off seven consecutive playoff wins only after rallying from a 7-3 deficit in the 8th inning against the A’s.
A World Series matchup of Wild Card teams? A World Series matchup between teams that failed to win 90 games? A World Series matchup between two of the worst teams to ever qualify for the Fall Classic.

I’m sure it’s just me, and maybe other Rangers fans. But I’m convinced the 2010 or 2011 Rangers would sweep either of these medicore outfits.
