Jurickson Profar’s return as the Rangers’ everyday second baseman cleared another hurdle last week.

Profar, who missed all of last season with a torn muscle in his right shoulder, began a cautious throwing program.

After a couple days of playing catch from 45 feet he felt no discomfort, underwent an MRI on the shoulder that showed nothing negative, and has now upped his distance to 60 and 75 feet.

Profar will also begin taking swings with the bat this week and is apparently on schedule to be a full participant in Spring Training.

With news that Prince Fielder is also full recovered from last season’s neck surgery, the Rangers’ right side of the infield is looking better by the day.

A native Texan who was born in Duncanville and graduated from UT-Arlington, Richie Whitt has been a mainstay in the Metroplex media since 1986. He’s held prominent roles on all media platforms including newspaper (Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Dallas Observer), radio (105.3 The Fan) and TV (co-host on TXA 21 and numerous guest appearances, including NBC 5). He currently lives in McKinney with his wife, Sybil, and two very spoiled dogs.
