Rangers Rooting Guide: Go Twins!

So the Minnesota Twins are just 1 1/2 games back of the Texas Rangers in the race for the second AL Wild Card spot entering Friday's games. A bad weekend for the Rangers and a good weekend for the Twins could kick the Rangers out of playoff spot as soon as Saturday.

With all that said, Rangers fans should be huge Twins fans this weekend, and the reason is obvious.

The Twins head to Houston to face the Astros, who have seen their lead in the AL West dwindle to just two games over the Rangers, meaning a good weekend for both the Twins and Rangers could have the Rangers in first place by Sunday.

Need some help rooting for the Twins? Here are a few things you can enjoy:

Miguel Sano is an absolute blast to watch. In his last 26 games, the rookie third baseman has six doubles and 11 home runs to go with 28 RBIs — quite the pace that young man is on.

In the dugout, the Twins have rookie manager Paul Molitor, who was one of the greatest hitters of his generation and a blast to watch as a kiddo for yours truly.

Their fans are incredibly friendly, too. Took a trip to the Twin Cities for some baseball last summer and had quite the time.

Could Twins wins this weekend hurt the Rangers? Yes, but most likely only in the short term. They'd have a much better chance of being a big help to the Rangers if they can start a little slump for the Astros, who have lost two straight games while the Rangers have won two straight.
