Rangers' Rivals Flame Out in Postseason

The Oakland A's didn't actually play a moment of October baseball this season, and the Los Angeles Angels might as well have joined them.

The A's, of course, we're taken down in extra innings by the red-hot, upstart Kansas City Royals in the AL Wild Card Game on the last day of September, falling just a few minutes shy of technically playing October baseball. That loss completed one of the biggest September collapses in recent baseball history and gave the A's a taste of what the Texas Rangers felt in 2012.

Then, those same Royals went and took down the Rangers' other big division rival Angels, who happen to employ a couple of former Rangers stars/lightning rods.

Basically, if you're a Rangers fan and you enjoy seeing C.J. Wilson and Josh Hamilton failure, you loved watching the Royals sweep the A's in large part because of the ineptitude of those two.

So yeah, the Rangers' season was catastrophic, but after their September resurgence under interim manager Tim Bogar and their two biggest rivals taking massive belly flops in the national spotlight, maybe there was something to enjoy for Rangers fans.
