Rangers, Reds Discuss Frazier

Several folks reported over the weekend that, in advance of the MLB Winter Meetings, the Rangers had spoken to the Reds about all-star third baseman Todd Frazier.

But the Rangers have an all-star third baseman of their own in Adrian Beltre, you might say. That is true, but reportedly the Rangers' plan was to have Frazier play left field for them, something he last did in 2013.

Frazier would've been a huge addition to the Rangers' lineup and is under team control through the 2017 season. He hit 35 home runs in 2015 and hits from the right side — awfully appealing for a team looking for a) power and b) right-handed bats.

Of course, in an ideal world, the Rangers could tie their left field hopes to Josh Hamilton, who the Angels will be paying in full to play for Texas in 2016, but counting on Hamilton to stay healthy for any significant stretch of time is always a risky proposition.
