Rangers Players at HP Byron Nelson Championship

The baseball players suprise golf fans by watching the game alongside them

The 2013 HP Byron Nelson Championship tournament at the TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas is expected to draw about 200,000 fans throughout the week.

Among the 200,000 golf fans expected to attend the tournament are Texas Rangers players. Three of them showed up at the 18th green on Friday to support their golfer friends.

On Thursday, a group of Texas Rangers players stood among other Byron Nelson fans at the 18th hole.

"It just shows how close we are to each other, you know, we care for each other and pull for each other and this is the start of it all," said Derek Holland, Rangers starting pitcher.

"You know, we just enjoy coming out and watching all of them. A.J. [Pierzynski], who is with us who somehow got out of this, knows a lot of the guys and we enjoy just coming out and watching these guys,” said Jeff Baker, Rangers infielder.

Golf fans said seeing other athletes like the Rangers add to the excitement of being at the tournament.

"We recognized them and we didn't want to run over there to talk to them, but it's just nice to be out here enjoying golf and watching professional players enjoying golf too," said Jared Tadlock from Rockwall.

Keegan Bradley, 2011 HP Byron Nelson Champion, said having the support of the baseball players means a lot.

"That's really special," Bradley said. "I think that's so cool about sports is that we're all kind of in this little club and it seems like everybody respects each other."
