Rangers' Kirkman On DL With Lymphoma Reccurence

The Texas Rangers have put left-hander Michael Kirkman on the 15-day disabled list after a recurrence of lymphoma around his right triceps. The team says a complete recovery is expected.

In making the move Sunday, the Rangers said Kirkman will begin treatment shortly and will be able to participate in baseball activities.

Kirkman was initially diagnosed in January 2012 and had radiation treatments last year.

A day after an 18-inning loss at Toronto, the Rangers purchased the contract of right-hander Kyle McClellan from Triple-A Round Rock. The Rangers transferred right-hander Joakim Soria from the 15-day to the 60-day DL to make room on the 40-man roster.

Kirkman was 0-2 with an 8.18 ERA in 25 games. His last game appearance was Thursday, when he allowed a game-ending three-run homer to Boston's David Ortiz.
