Rangers in Precarious Spot After Loss to A's

Texas watched the A's run away with the AL West title on Wednesday afternoon

In a decent effort turned really, really ugly on Wednesday afternoon in Oakland, the Texas Rangers watched their already tenuous hold on the American League West -- which they’ve had since April 9--slip away in the most unwatchable fashion possible, losing to the Athletics by a final score of 12-5.

Texas committed three errors in the loss, which directly accounted for four of Oakland's runs.

Per the new MLB playoff format, the wild card Rangers will now have to win a one-game playoff with the Baltimore Orioles on Friday to advance in the playoffs and make a run at a third consecutive World Series appearance -- and judging by Wednesday’s showing, we’re not exactly brimming over with confidence.

The New York Yankees clinched the AL East a few hours after the Rangers lost in Oakland.
