Rangers Hoping Hamilton is Ready to Roll Soon

Josh Hamilton was seemingly headed back to the disabled list just a few days after he came off it with a groin strain, but Jon Daniels said it's not as bad as it seemed and he should be ready to roll at close to 100 percent after the all-star break.

Hamilton played in Friday's series opener against his former team when the Angels came to town, but he left the game in the seventh inning of a blowout and missed Saturday's and Sunday's games before Monday's team off-day.

Daniels told 105.3 The Fan on Monday that Hamilton should be able to play in at least one of the two games against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday and Wednesday and hopefully play in most of, if not all, the Padres series that runs Friday-Sunday. Then, the team has four days off for the all-star break.

"We can afford to play him a little bit, protect him a little bit, then hopefully he’s 100 percent coming out of the break,” Daniels told the radio station.

If Hamilton can get some timely rest with maybe three games or so mixed in this week, it's likely he could be back to as close to 100 percent as to be expected with a groin injury when the Rangers open the second half of the season with a key series in Houston against the first-place Astros.
