Rangers Give Murphy 1-Year Deal

Details of deal not disclosed

Texas Rangers outfielder David Murphy will be back with the team in 2012.

The team and outfielder agreed to terms on a one-year deal that was announced Tuesday.

According to the team, "Murphy batted .275 with 11 homers and 46 RBI in 120 games with the Rangers in 2011. He started 62 games in left, 27 in right, and 11 in center and was in the lineup for 29 of the season's final 30 games. Beginning August 22, he hit .358 in his final 32 games."

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Five Rangers remain unsigned and eligible for salary arbitration: pitchers Mike Adams and Matt Harrison, catcher Mike Napoli, infielder Elvis Andrus, and outfielder Nelson Cruz.

Of course, the team is still working to sign Japanese ace Yu Darvish by the deadline -- 4 p.m. Wednesday.
