Projection Has Rangers at Third in West

Last year, the Rangers made an unlikely late push to win the AL West despite playing the whole season without their ace and getting awful first-half showings from guys like Shin-Soo Choo and Rougned Odor.

Just as unlikely, perhaps, the Rangers aren't projected to make the postseason in 2016 despite a full year with Cole Hamels and the return of Yu Darvish.

According to Baseball Prospectus, the Rangers are projected to finish third in the AL West behind champion Houston and the Mariners. They're given a 24.9 percent of making the postseason with a 14.4 percent chance to win the West. As for the World Series? That's just 1.7 percent.

The Astros are projected to win the AL West and are given the second best chance in the AL to win the World Series at 7.3 percent. The Cleveland Indians, of all teams, are given the highest chance to win the world title at 12.8 percent.
