Potential Targets: Raul Ibanez

Target: Raul Ibanez, OF

Type of move: Free agency

2012 stats: .240 batting average, 19 doubles, 19 home runs, 62 RBIs.

Though he's 40 years old, Ibanez still has some time left in the bigs. He was huge for the Yankees down the stretch, almost being MVP worthy of the ALDS win over the Baltimore Orioles with some really clutch at-bats when he was pinch-hit for Alex Rodriguez multiple times. The Rangers have reportedly shown interest in the aging vet of 17 seasons. He would most likely be a left-handed option at designated hitter, perhaps platooning with Nelson Cruz against right-handed pitching.

Ibanez earned a cheap $1.1 million from the Yankees in 2011, and the Bronx Bombers have said they would like to have him back. You'd think it would be on a one-year basis wherever he signs at somewhere in the neighborhood of $1-1.5 million. It would be far from a "splash-maker" on the market, but it could be a big piece to a winning lineup.
