Potential Target: Kyle Lohse

In an ongoing series, we'll take a look at possible free-agent and trade targets for the Texas Rangers this winter.

2015 stats: 5-13 record, 5.85 ERA, 22 starts, 15 relief appearances, 152 1/3 innings, 108 strikeouts, 43 walks

Lohse has been tied to Rangers' interest in the past, but now the Scott Boras is a free agent and Boras is trying to push his 37-year-old righty on the Rangers again, especially if they don't re-sign Colby Lewis.

Lohse has been a starter pretty much exclusively since 2006 and has been a pretty dang good one, albeit in the more pitcher-friendly National League. Most recently, he pitched for Milwaukee and was good out of the rotation in 2013 and 2014 before being shifted into the bullpen last year.

In 2012, Lohse went 16-3 for the Cardinals and led the league in winning percentage while posting a 2.86 ERA. His ERA was under 4.00 in 2013 and 2014 before it went through the roof in 2015. Lohse isn't going to be a big splash, but he could be a guy that provides stabilty in the back of the rotation, similar to what Lewis could be if he's brought back.
