Potential Target: Justin Upton

In an ongoing series, we'll take a look at possible free-agent and trade targets for the Texas Rangers this winter.

Target: Justin Upton, OF

2014 stats: .270 batting average, .342 on-base percentage, .833 OPS, 34 doubles, 29 home runs, 102 RBIs, 154 games

Back in the offseason prior to the 2013 season, the Texas Rangers were chasing Justin Upton intently after he'd vaulted himself into the category of one of the best young power-hitting outfielders in the game with Arizona. The Rangers lost out, as the Atlanta Braves signed both he and his brother, B.J., to free agent deals.

Now, the Braves could be looking to clean house under new general manager, and former Rangers GM, John Hart. Justin Upton is an obvious choice to be moved as he's a free agent following the 2015 season and should be able to cash in on a bigger deal than he got a couple of years ago after hitting nearly 30 homers in each of the last two seasons with the Braves.

You can bet the Rangers are still intersted in Upton, who's still just 27 years old and has plenty of power to fill an ever-present void in the Rangers' lineup as well as the void in left field.
