Potential Target: Dexter Fowler

In an ongoing series, we'll take a look at possible free-agent and trade targets for the Texas Rangers this winter.

Potential Target: Dexter Fowler, OF

2015 stats: .250 batting average, .346 on-base percentage, .757 OPS, 29 doubles, 8 triples, 17 home runs, 46 RBIs, 20 stolen bases in 156 games

We discussed Austin Jackson last week in this role, and Fowler would be a step up from that level, at least in terms of recent production. The two ended up being teammates last year with the Cubs with Fowler seeing the majority of the time in center field while Jackson was a bench bat down the stretch.

Fowler has been a solid player for several years now with Astros and Rockies before his time with the Cubs. He has speed, can hit, is good at getting on base and has a solid glove in center. He'd be a great piece of insurance for the Rangers in case Delino DeShields takes a step back in his second season after a pretty great rookie year in 2015.
