Potential Target: Aroldis Chapman

In an ongoing series, we'll take a look at possible free-agent and trade targets for the Texas Rangers this winter.

Target: Aroldis Chapman, LHP

2015 stats: 3-3, 1.95 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 15 saves, 32 1/3 innings, 56 strikeouts, 19 walks, 15.6 K/9 innings

If you're talking about relief help, Chapman would be the equivalent of going all-in. He's going to be the biggest relief name out there as the Reds will be looking to sell their assets. He wouldn't be a true rental, as he's second-year arb-eligible this winter and is a free agent after the 2016 season, so he'd have some staying power.

Chapman would cost a load of prospects — most likely more than the Rangers would want to give up for a reliever. But he'd immediately slide into the closer's role and allow Tolleson to move back to the setup role and push everyone else back to fortify a bullpen that is among the league's worst.
