Orioles Summon Saunders for Stretch Run

Joe Saunders has seen his share of laundry this season.

The veteran lefty began the season with the Texas Rangers and quickly hit the disabled list after taking a line drive off the ankle in the Rangers' second series of the year in Tampa Bay. After his return a couple of months later, he had a decent little stretch of starts before his wheels came off and he showed his true colors.

In an ironic twist, his final day in a Rangers uniform came in a rough start in Baltimore — one of his former teams. Now, he's back with Baltimore after bombing for the Kansas City Royals' Triple-A club and making 10 successful appearances for Baltimore's Triple-A club. He was called up for the roster expansion and now will look to rediscover some greatness he had with the Orioles back in 2012.

If you remember, Saunders started the 2012 AL Wild Card Game in Texas against the Rangers and stymied the stumbling Rangers lineup, which featured a disinterested Josh Hamilton in his final game as a Ranger.

As a Ranger this season, Saunders finished with an 0-5 record and a 6.13 ERA.
