Ogando Set For First Start

Even though he's made one appearance this spring, Alexi Ogando will make his first start of Cactus League play on Wednesday afternoon against the Chicago White Sox as the Texas Rangers are still in search of their first win of the spring.

Ogando struggled in his first appearance, going 1 1/3 innings while giving up a home run, two walks, three hits and three earned runs, but on Wednesday the projected No. 4 starter will make his first start and hope to rebound from that last appearance.

Ogando is transitioning back to the starting rotation after spending last season in the bullpen, after spending most of 2011 in the rotation and making the AL all-star team while he broke into the league in 2010 as a reliever.

So keeping up with the alternate year thing, the Rangers need Ogando to be an effective starter in 2013 and not hit an innings/workload wall like he did in late-2011, when he moved back to the bullpen before the postseason.
