Neftali Feliz Rehabbing As A Starter

Feliz last pitched on May 18, and went on the DL with elbow inflammation shortly thereafter

The Texas Rangers are still uncertain whether Neftali Feliz will return as a starter--the role in which he began the 2012 season for the first time--or as a reliever, where he spent the first few years of his Rangers career, when he finally returns from a strained elbow.

But as he begins his rehab assignment with Double-A Round Rock, the team intends on “stretching him out” as though he will start, just so the option remains on the table.

"That's the plan right now," general manager Jon Daniels said, per ESPN Dallas. "We want to do what's best for him and the club. We want to get him stretched out as a starter and you can bring him back either way, but as we've seen you can never have enough starting pitching."

Feliz last pitched on May 18, when he went 4 2/3 innings, giving up three hits, five walks and a run to the Astros.
