Mike Napoli Returns To The Lineup

After leaving Tuesday's game with vision issues, it was thought that Napoli may miss the series finale in Toronto

After leaving Tuesday night’s game with vision issues, a decidedly scary-sounding reason to leave a game, it was thought that Rangers’ catcher/first baseman Mike Napoli may have to sit out of today’s matchup with Toronto.

As it happens, that apparently wasn’t necessary. Napoli was in the Rangers’ starting lineup for Wednesday’s 11-5 loss, hitting clean-up and playing first base.

Napoli wasn’t great in his return, going 0-for-3, but he did have a sac fly and an RBI. In his final at bat in the seventh, he got good wood on the ball, smoking a line drive to the left side--but it was snagged by Blue Jays’ third baseman Brett Lawrie to end the inning.

With the loss today, Texas has lost two consecutive series. The team will have a day off on Thursday before heading to Cleveland for a weekend series with the Indians.
