Most Disappointing: Elvis Andrus

In a season-ending countdown, we'll weigh in on the six most disappointing Rangers in what was arguably the most disappointing season in franchise history.

No. 3: Elvis Andrus, SS

2014 stats: .263 batting average, .314 on-base percentage, 35 doubles, triple, two homers, 41 RBIs, 72 runs, 27-for-42 on stolen-base attempts, 18 errors

Andrus turned 26 years old in late August, but he's already a seasoned MLB veteran with tons of big-game experience since breaking through as a rookie at age 20 in 2009 and finishing second in the AL Rookie of the Year balloting. Since then, he hasn't changed his game too much, which is becoming a big knock on the high-priced shortstop.

Andrus was a rally killer all year. His batting average and on-base percentage this season were both career-lows, as was his one triple. On the bases, he wasn't great. He did steal 27 bases, which was his second-lowest career total, but he got caught a league-high 15 times. On defense, he at times looked aloof in the field and committed 18 errors, which is just short of his career average over his six seasons.

The big question with Andrus is if he's plateaued after being given a big blockbuster deal at the beginning of last season, a deal that doesn't even kick in until next year. With the Rangers' middle infield surplus still an issue after the emergence of Rougned Odor, there's whispers Andrus could be on the trade market.

Not sure I'm ready to say the Rangers should trade their young shortstop who they hoped would turn out to be a franchise cornerstone, but they would like to see some improvement in 2015.
