Moreland's Three Hits Continue Hot Stretch

With less than two weeks remaining until the Rangers open the regular season in Oakland, Mitch Moreland is starting to swing a hot bat after he'd struggled through the early parts of spring training.

The first baseman/designated hitter, who projects as the team's primary DH, is coming off two straight injury-plagued seasons since an under-the-radar 2012 season that saw him hit .275 and eclipse 20 homers.

Now, he's finding his stroke seemingly at the right time as the Rangers approach Opening Day, and that trend continued on Wednesday night when he went 3-for-4 at the plate to push his current stretch to 7-for-17 over a current five-game hitting streak.

For the spring, he's now hitting .333 with a .900 OPS, two homers and seven RBIs, and if the Rangers can get 2012 production from him, he could be a nice option as a No. 6 hitter in the Rangers' order and a big part of the Rangers' offensive resurgence.
