Michael Young Is “Ready To Start Games Now”

Over a week until the regular season, Michael Young is ready for Opening Day

Just nine days away from Opening Day, Michael Young is right where he wants to be in terms of his swing. Young is hitting .421 this spring while focusing on the feel of his swing, putting in hours in the video room and taking special note of where his body is when he takes a pitch.

"I watch where my body is on my takes," Young said, per ESPN Dallas. "I want to be sure I'm in the right position even when I'm not swinging at pitches. I can replay the at-bats in my mind, but it's nice to have the video reinforce it."

With the early stages of the spring out of the way, a period during which a hitter might focus more on the mechanics of his swing than anything else, Young has spent the recent weeks playing situational baseball, as he would in a regular season game.

"It's time to do that now," Young said. "I'm ready to start games now. We're all game ready, but we still have time out here and you have to take advantage of it. I've got things I want to work on to be a better hitter and a better player and I'm going do to that."
