Mazara Shot in Prospect Game Nears Gallo's Blast

I was sitting behind the first-base dugout at Surprise Stadium last Tuesday when Joey Gallo hit a first-pitch no-doubter on to the roof of a party tent in deep, deep right field in a Cactus League win over Cleveland.

That was maybe the longest home run I've ever witnessed in person, although home runs are officially measured at spring training like they are in the regular season.

On Wednesday night in a prospect game between the Rangers and Cubs prospects, Nomar Mazara tried his best to match Gallo's power display by hitting one into the seats just below the party tent — a pretty healthy shot in its own right.

Since Gallo had big-league experience last season, he wasn't eligible to play in the game, leaving Mazara as undoubtedly the Rangers' top prospect in the game, and he didn't disappoint.
