Mazara Called Up to Round Rock

Joey Gallo was called up to the bigs for a brief swim in June, and when his time was up, he was sent to Triple-A Round Rock — still a promotion for him from Double-A Frisco.

Now, Gallo, who is the Rangers' top prospect and one of the top prospects in baseball, will be joined by the team's No. 2 prospect in Round Rock as corner outfielder Nomar Mazara was promoted from Frisco to Round Rock on Monday to play out the final couple of weeks of the minor league season at the next level.

Gallo is the Rangers' top prospect because of his prodigious power, but Mazara is a very good hitter in his own right.

This season at Frisco, he hit .284 with a .357 on-base percentage to go with 13 homers and 56 RBIs in 111 games. He was a Texas League all-star and was also selected to play for the World Team in the MLB Futures Game during all-star week.
