Martin Unsure of When He'll Return

Leonys Martin made a pinch-running appearance on Tuesday night in the Rangers' extra-innings loss to the Royals, but that was it.

Since getting jammed by a pitch in Monday's win over the Royals, Martin has been complaining of a sore left hand, and after Tuesday's loss he said it wasn't feeling any better.

“It doesn’t feel good,” Martin told the Dallas Morning News. “I don’t know when [I'll return to the lineup].”

Martin was replaced in the lineup by Delino DeShields Jr., who had one of his better games as a Ranger with two walks, two stolen bases and two runs. Martin is batting just .209 with a .246 on-base percentage on the season — well below what the Rangers were hoping he'd be this year — and he has six stolen bases to go along with it.

If Martin's wrist doesn't improve soon, he could be looking at a stint on the disabled list.
