Martin Might Need Hand Surgery

It's been a rough stretch for Rangers center fielder Leonys Martin.

Martin was demoted earlier this month to Triple-A Round Rock after an extended slump that has basically lasted the entire season. He reportedly didn't take it too well, but it's essentially a last-ditch chance to rediscover his talent in a way similar to what Rougned Odor did when he was sent down for more than a month.

Just one problem with that "last-ditch" thing, though. He's now looking at the possibility of hand surgery as he's set to see a hand specialist.

There's concern he has a broken hamate bone in his wrist, which would require surgery to fix and it's more than likely now that his season is over.

That makes Martin's future murky given the fact he's set to his arbitration this winter with no real leg to stand on.
