Lowe Will Throw for Clubs

The Texas Rangers had high hopes for Mark Lowe when they traded the Seattle Mariners prospect Justin Smoak for Lowe and, oh, that Cliff Lee guy.

Lowe was coming off an injury and was known to have a lively arm who could factor into the Rangers' bullpen in the future. Well, he factored into the Rangers' bullpen and had some flashes of promise but never really panned out as a reliable reliever.

Lowe is a free agent, and the Rangers haven't even put feelers out to make it any possibility that they will want him back in 2013. Because of that, Lowe is set to have a bullpen session on Wednesday in Arizona for any club that's interested in attending.

Lowe, who went 0-2 last season with a 3.43 ERA with the Rangers, was relegated to the mop-up duty last season — both in a winning and losing fashion, in other words, a late-innings eater in non-leverage situations. He also missed seven weeks after straining an intercostal muscle.
