Lewis Wasn't Joking About Taking Up Cycling

When you make $6 million a year, a $10,000 purchase doesn't seem like that big of a deal, I guess, but Colby Lewis is obviously very serious about his new cycling kick.

The Rangers veteran, who underwent knee surgery to repair torn meniscus after the 2015 season, was told he shouldn't run anymore unless it's in game action, so he had to find a new way to stay in shape after he'd gotten up over 260 pounds by the time the season ended thanks to his sore knee.

So he bought a $10,000 bike, an S-Works Tarmac, and rode up to 200 miles per week in his hometown of Bakersfield, California.

"Every year, as you get a little older, you have to find new ways to put yourself in good shape," Lewis told The Dallas Morning News. "This is my cardio. I like to get out there and go fast."

Lewis, who pitched a career-high 204 2/3 innings in 2015 and won a team-high 17 games, pitched the last half of the season with a knee brace and was pretty uncomfortable by the time the season ended. He is behind schedule from all the Rangers' healthy starters but is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Friday.
