Rangers' Joey Gallo Shares His Experience with One of the Fallen Officers

Rangers' star shares #PrayForDallas post

Sports and news are typically on two separate tracks, for good reason, as sports is an escape from everyday life for many people. Sometimes it is not time for escape, but time to embrace what is going on in the real world. Texas Rangers' prospect Joey Gallo put sports aside to share a personal note on Instagram Friday.

Gallo posted a picture with fellow Rangers star Nomar Mazara and Dallas Police Officer Patrick Zamarripa.

Zamarripa was one of the officers who lost his life Thursday night in the Dallas shootings. In his post, Gallo asked everyone to pray for Zamarripa, his family and all the officers affected.

"I'll never forget how kind and down to Earth he (Zamarripa) was," Gallo wrote. "He was an avid Rangers fan. But more importantly a great person, and family man."

Gallo ends the caption with a hashtag that will become synonymous with the shootings: #PrayForDallas. The hashtag is a reminder that all of us in the North Texas community were touched by this event and must come out of this more united, so we never have to go through another night like that again.
