Jackson Makes Debut After Replacing Wilhelmsen

Tom Wilhelmsen wasn't cutting it, despite his relatively high level of promise after he was acquired from Seattle for Leonys Martin.

So on Monday, Wilhelmsen was sent packing to Triple-A Round Rock and was replaced in the bullpen by youngster Luke Jackson.

Jackson didn't waste any time getting into a game as he replaced Derek Holland to start the seventh inning of Monday's 3-1 loss to Oakland. Jackson had a walk and a strikeout in two innings of work while allowing one hit, even though that one hit was a solo blast.

It's unknown whether Jackson will be with the Rangers for the long haul, as they probably hope Wilhelmsen can figure out what ailed him in Round Rock and come back up and pitch to his standard. But Jackson does have a lively arm and if he pitches well enough could establish himself as a long-term option out of the bullpen.
