JD: Rangers Aren't Team to Beat

Sometimes it's hard to remember that the Texas Rangers have gone two straight years without winning the AL West after two previous years saw their season end in the World Series.

But that's where we're at. The Oakland A's are two-time defending AL West champs. The Los Angeles Angels are always potentially dangerous with their starpower that has disappointed so far, and the Seattle Mariners have retooled their roster to epic proportions.

Rangers GM Jon Daniels wants people to realize that the Rangers aren't the team to beat anymore, and maybe there shouldn't be tons of pressure on them to win everything, after all. Or maybe it's just a world-class sandbagging job.

“It started with the realization we’ve been passed…Oakland has won the division two years in a row," Daniels told The Dallas Morning News. "We’re not the team to beat. Internally we think we are, but from an industry standpoint we’ve been passed. Let’s accept that.”
